< This portrait was shot with a Pentax Spotmatic and a 55mm f/1.8 lens on which I mounted a UV filter selectively smeared with a very thin layer of petroleum jelly for the soft effect.
The beautiful soft natural light bouncing off a sunlit white wall, a few meters away, was perfect for the model's face. The color palette of blues and purples definitely added to the mood of the image.
Although using a normal lens is not that recommended for close-up portrait, due to the perspective distortion, a one meter camera to subject distance seemed about right. Most of all, this short distance allows for better communication with the model.
Film used was Ektachrome 64, push-processed to ISO 500 for the grain effect.
